I was going through my photos and realized I had not captured an owl at the park since September. Far too long, if you ask me, but this morning finally broke the streak.
A kind person on the boardwalk told me they had spotted one nearby, so I hurried over. When I found him, he was wrapping up breakfast: a baby turtle. A tough sight, but nature does what nature does.
He soon flew across the pond and perched there for nearly an hour while a few of us waited and hoped for the perfect flight shot. And, true to owl form, when he finally took off, it was straight in the opposite direction.
